William Clay Sibley 
William Clay was born on December 27th, 1812 in ,Mecklenburg, North Carolina.1 William Clay's father was Elijah Sibley and his mother was Mary Clay. His paternal grandparents were Robert Sibley and Jerusha Chandler; his maternal grandparents were James Clay and Margaret Muse. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Coleman, Gabriel, John H, Alexander B, Elijah M, James, Mary, Sarah, Nancy and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 92 on February 21st, 1905 in , Pontotoc, Mississippi. He was buried in Pontotoc Cemetery, Pontotoc, Pontotoc, Mississippi.1 General Notes
Came to Mississippi after the Civil War. Possibly from Georgia, since his wife is buried there.
In the Obituary of Hartwell Sibley, it states that he was born in Milledgeville, Georgia so it is possible that they were still in Georgia in that year.
There is a William Clay Sibley who served with the Confederacy, 9th Georgia Regiment. This William Clay Sibley mustered out 15 May 1862.
It also says that his Paternal Grandmother was the sister of Henry Clay, not his Maternal Grandmother.
