James William Nicholas Coffland 
James William Nicholas was born on April 17th, 1829 in Belmont County, Oho.1 James William Nicholas' father was Lancelot Coffland and his mother was Eliza Beckett. He had a brother named John Milton. James served in the Union Army for seven months in 1865. James had enlisted at Steubenville , Ohio, as a sergeant in Co. "K", 186th Regt, Ohio Vol. Inf.
James William Nicholas and Sarah Ann were married in a religious ceremony on October 31st, 1847 in Belmont County Ohio.1 They had three sons and three daughters, named Charles Wesley, Francis Allen, John H., Eliza Eleanor, Susan I and Mary Emma.
