Martha was born on September 15th, 1649.  Martha's father was Henry Cook and her mother was Judith Birdsall.  Her paternal grandparents were Edmund Cook and Elizabeth Nicholls; her maternal grandparents were Henry Birdsall and Judith Kempe. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Isaac, John, Henry, Judith, Rachel, Mary, Elizabeth and Hannah.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children. She had three half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Isaac, John, Henry, Judith, Rachel, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth and Hannah.
