Geoffrey de was born about 1064 in Of Hedingham, Essex, England.1 Geoffrey de's father was Alberic Aubrey de VERE and his mother was Beatrice de GAND. His paternal grandparents were Alphonso GHESNES and Countess Of GHESNES Mrs-Alphonso; his maternal grandparents were Henry Castellan de GAND and Sibilla MANASSES. He had five brothers and a sister, named Alberic de, Roger de, Robert de, William de, Aubrey II de and Roheise (Roesia) de. He was the second oldest of the seven children.
