Golson was born in 1788 in VA.1 Golson's father was Anathony Pruitt and his mother was Susannah Gholson. His paternal grandparents were Isham Pruitt and Francis Maddox; his maternal grandparents were Anthony Gholson and Mary Sandridge. He had two brothers and a sister, named Isham, William and Nancy Green. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers named Robert and Anthony Jr..-
