Thomas MacKay was born in 1673 in "Prather Hall", Calvert Co., MD.1 Thomas MacKay's father was Jonathan Prather and his mother was Lyle Jane Mackay. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Prater and Mary McKay Powell; his maternal grandfather was MacKay. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Jonathan, George, William, John, Edward, Jane and Elizabeth. He died in "Orphan's Gift", Prince Georges Co., MD.1 General Notes

and two daughters. He died before March 15, 1711, in Prince Georges County, Mar
yland.On 25 June 1700, Ninian Beall conveyed to Thomas 56 acres, part of a tract
of land called St. Andrews.\Martha, wife of Thomas Prather and daughter of Tho
mas Sprigg, in her father's will written May 9, 1704 received one third of a par
cel of land containing 500 acres, the Manor of Collinton, on the side next to Wi
lliam Prather's.\Lyle Jane Prather (now Smith), mother of Col. Thomas M. Prathe
r, mentioned him in her will written July 27, 1710.\Martha Prather, widow of Th
omas Prather, on April 29, 1719 conveyed to her sons Thomas, John, Phillip and A
ron Prather, upon their 18th birthdays, a sum of money. Thomas, John, and Philip
each received ten pounds sterling, and Aron received forty pounds sterling.\Ma
rtha Prather (now Yoakley), widow of Thomas Prather, conveyed to her son John Sm
ith Prather on August 28, 1729, a one third part of a tract of land, in Prince G
eorge County, Md. called "Spriggs Request".\Thomas Prather was a Col. in the Fr
ederick Militia and in most records is referred to as Col. Thomas Prather.\-- G
