Evaline was born in 1827.1 Evaline's father was Michael Mial Mattox and her mother was Ruth Byran. Her paternal grandparents were David Mattox and Sarah Perkins; her maternal grandparents were Reddin Bryan and Sheba Petty. She had five brothers and three sisters, named David, Redden B., Redden B., Wiliam J., John Calvin, Mahaly, Mary C. and Sarah W.. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
