Mary "Polly" was born about 1805.1 Mary "Polly"'s father was Lewis Tackett and her mother was Susannah? Sumpter. Her paternal grandfather was Francis? Tackett; her maternal grandfather was Edmund Sumpter. She had three brothers and three sisters, named George W., Lewis, John, Alsey, Catherine and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the seven children.1
