William A. Rowan 
William A. was born about 1814 in ,Washington, Virginia.1 William A.'s father was Samuel M. Rowan and his mother was Rebecca Blessing. His paternal grandparents were William Rowan and Elizabeth Ellison; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Blessing and Elizabeth Messersmith. He had four brothers and a sister, named James M., Henderson, Logan, John and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the six children. He died in November 1861 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.
