John Patterson

John was born in 1832 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹ John's father was James Patterson and his mother was Lucretia Scism. His paternal grandparents were William Patterson and Mary Pruitt; his maternal grandparents were William Scism and Elizabeth Duncan. He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Jesse, James and Margaret Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the five children.
