Amanda V. was born on August 19th, 1849 in Page County, Virginia.1 Amanda V.'s father was Noah Kite and her mother was Isabella Perkey Kite. Her paternal grandparents were George Kite and Elizabeth Long; her maternal grandparents were Jacob C. Kite and Catherine Slagel. She had eleven brothers and six sisters, named Edgar, Erasmus, George, Oliver, Henry, Benjamin M., John, Harvey, Lewis Wolford, Allen W., Ashby, Eleanora, Eudora, Caroline, Belzonia, Victoria and Eleanora. She was the third youngest of the eighteen children.-
