John Hicks

John was born in 1819 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹   John's father was Nathaniel Hicks and his mother was Mary Smith.  His paternal grandparents were Isaac Hicks and Elizabeth. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Isaac, Abraham, Reuben, James, Nathaniel R., Kissiah and Elizabeth.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.
