Elmer was born in July 1886 in ,Effingham, Illinois.1 Elmer's father was William Goff and his mother was Nancy Elizabeth Sluder. His paternal grandparents were Josephus Goff and Anne Clark; his maternal grandparents were Schleuter and Catherine. He had three brothers and a sister, named Henry, Frank, Arthur and Flora C.. He was the second youngest of the five children. He had three half-brothers named George Emery, Joseph Sherman and Charles H.. He died in Died.1 -
