John Thomas Combest 
John Thomas was born on December 4th, 1884 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.1 John Thomas' father was James Riley Combest and his mother was Mary Francis Roy. His paternal grandparents were Alexander Combest and Mariah Louisa Bowmer; his maternal grandparents were Zachariah Roy and Jerusiah Dick. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Virgil, Oliver, Frank, Eva and Ellen. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Charles, Dudley, Zachariah and Elizabeth. He died due to Angina Pectoris, diseased coronary arteries at the age of 48 on November 24th, 1933 in Polson, Montana.1 General Notes

According to John's wife Clara, he was raised from age 6 by Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Roy of Edgarton, Missouri; that he went west to Montana in 1912 and then to Beemerton, Washington where he was a carpenter in the Naval yards. He returned to Polson, Montana in 1931.
