John Clay 
John was born on February 28th, 1757 in ,Cumberland, Virginia.1 John's father was Henry Clay and his mother was Rachel Povall. He had two brothers and nine sisters, named Samuel, Henry, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Tabitha, Rachel, Sarah Or Sallie, Mary Ann, Henrietta, Mattie and Lettitia Or Lettie. He was the second oldest of the twelve children.
