James Allen Byars 
James Allen was born on September 11th, 1830 in Washington County, Virginia.1 James Allen's father was George Washington Byars and his mother was Ann Blessing. His maternal grandparents were Jacob Blessing and Elizabeth Messersmith. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George Washington, John, Thomas, Eliza Jane, Mary Ann and Susan. He was the second oldest of the seven children.-
