James Brantley 
James was born about 1752 in Halifax, NC.1 James' father was Edward Brantley and his mother was Martha Pitman. His paternal grandparents were James Brantley and Ruth; his maternal grandfather was Pitman. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Lewis, William, Edward, Robert, Benjamin, Mary, Martha Or Patty and Anna. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
