Sarah was born in 1839 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Sarah's father was John Blevins and her mother was Minerva Kyle. Her maternal grandparents were Absalom Kyle and Barsheba Whitehead Cobb. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Kyle, Robert, Parolee, Ann, Alice, Lady and Mary M.. She was the second oldest of the eight children.-
