Martin was born on December 8th, 1796 in ,Washington, Maryland.1 Martin's father was John Beal and his mother was Eve Or Elizabeth Eberhardt. His paternal grandparents were John Nicholas Beal and Maria Elizabeth Kuefer. He had six brothers and five sisters, named John, George, Jacob, Frederick, Peter, David, Elizabeth, Katherine, Maria, Anna and Margaret Or Peggy. He was the third oldest of the twelve children.-
