Her paternal grandparents were James Spears and Ann Doughtie; her maternal grandparents were Caleb Coker and Mary Spier. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Nathaniel Or Nathan, David, Wright, Dempsey, Kindred, Robert, William, Patience Or Terece and Mary.-
