Nathan Bachman was born on July 14th, 1829 in , Of Sullivan, Tennessee. Nathan Bachman's father was Philip Smith Hale and his mother was Elizabeth Bachman. His paternal grandparents were Philip Heale and Catherine Douglas. He had two brothers and ten sisters, named Philip Smith, William Douglas, Catherine Ann, Eliza Jane, Julia Ann, Sarah Amanda, Matilda Antoinette, Mary Bachman, Frances Louisa, Adelaide, Cornelia Josephine and Martha Ellen. He was the sixth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at 6 months old on February 8th, 1830 in , Of Sullivan, Tennessee.-
