Franklin M. was born on December 11th, 1839 in , , Kentucky. Franklin M.'s father was John Allen Gano and his mother was Mary Catherine Conn. His paternal grandparents were Richard M. Gano and Elizabeth Ewing; his maternal grandfather was William Conn. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William Conn, Richard M., Robert Ewing, Stephen F., John Allen, Fannie C., Eliza G. and Mary Eliza. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 41 in February 1881 in Near, Taylor, Williamson, TX.-
