Thomas Bruce was born on February 16th, 1883 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Thomas Bruce's father was George Washington Droke and his mother was Christina Morton. His paternal grandparents were John Droke and Isabel Wolford. He had seven brothers and a sister, named William James, John Martin, Samuel Isaac, Marshal Elkanah, Joseph Benjamin, David Miller, Charles Wolford and Susan Eleanor. He was the second youngest of the nine children.-
