Jeanette was born about 1759 in , Laurens, SC. Jeanette's father was James Coker and her mother was Mary Aldridge. Her paternal grandparents were John Coker and Priscilla Geddings. She had six brothers and four sisters, named William, Calvin, Thomas, Robert, Drury, John, Hannah, Mary, Sarah and Ann Amanda. She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.-
