Elizabeth was born about 1842 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Elizabeth's father was William Lewis Christian and her mother was Elizabeth H. Thrasher. Her paternal grandparents were John Christian and Nancy Skelton; her maternal grandfather was Isaac Thrasher. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named William Skelton, Jesse R., Isaac L., M. C., James K., Joseph Frank, David Lyons, Mary Elizabeth, Nancy, Rachel Matilda and Lillie Belle. She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Stephen H., Eldridge, John F. and Mahala Jane. She died about 1842 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.-
