Isaac Thomas was born on August 7th, 1868 in Pike County, Indiana. Isaac Thomas' father was William Riley Cato and his mother was Alcey Shoemaker. His paternal grandparents were Isaac Cato and Nancy Taylor. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William Tolbert, Grover Cleveland, Rosco, Mary Jane, Rhoda Elizabeth, Dabia Ann, Isabell and Emma Stella. He was the oldest of the nine children.-
