James Brown 
James was born about 1728 in Of, Chowan, NC. James' father was William Brown and his mother was Charity Holmes. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Brown and Christian Maule; his maternal grandparents were John Holmes and Tamar Bird. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Abner, Hardy, William, Charity, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died in 1810.-
