Katherine was born about 1468 in Malzar, Northamptonshire, England. Katherine's father was Nicholas Billing and her mother was Agnes Gilbert. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Billing and Catherine Giffard; her maternal grandfather was Stephen Gilbert. She had four brothers and a sister, named Roger, William, Henry, John and Agnes. She was the oldest of the six children.-
