Augustine Volney was born on August 18th, 1802 in , Bourbon, Kentucky. Augustine Volney's father was Littleberry Bedford and his mother was Mattie Clay. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Bedford and Mary Ligon Coleman; his maternal grandparents were Henry Clay and Rachel Povall. He had ten brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Henry, William, Littleberry, John, Franklin P., Benjamin Coleman, Archibald M., George M., Edwin G., Elizabeth and Martha Or Patsy P.. He was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 58 in 1860 in , Bourbon, Kentucky.-
