William Battle 
William was born on April 24th, 1790 in North Carolina. William's father was William Battle and his mother was Mary Ann Williams. His paternal grandparents were John Battle Jr. and Sarah Browne; his maternal grandfather was John Williams. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Laurence, Larken, Alfred, Fred, Elizabeth Williams, Martha Williams and Mary Ann. He was the third oldest of the nine children.
