John was born on October 17th, 1673 in Perquimans Co., NC. John 's father was Christopher NICHOLSON and his mother was Hannah REDKNAP. His paternal grandparents were Edmund NICHOLSON and Elizabeth SIMSON. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Joseph, Nathaniel , Benjamin , Deliverance, Hannah and Jane (Jean /Jeane). He was the third youngest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Christopher , Thomas , Elizabeth, Sarah Philura, Ann and Ann .-
