His paternal grandparents were Richard (Col.) BLAND and Elizabeth RANDOLPH. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Richard III, Peter R. , Edward , William (Rev.) , Theodorick , Elizabeth, Sarah , Ann Poythress, Mary , Lucy Atkinson and Susan. He was the fourth youngest of the twelve children.-
