Allen was born in 1802. Allen's father was Roland "Rolly" Thomas BLAND and his mother was Delsey SHEKKLESWORTH. His paternal grandparents were John BLAND and RACHEL LOUCKS. He had four brothers and six sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named John , Samuel, Green , William , Susan , Jane, Melinda , Julia , Fanny, Rachel and Purdey . He had a half-brother named Thomas Roland .-
