Asa Thomas was born in October 1855 in Hartselle, Alabama.1 Asa Thomas' father was James Robert Spain and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Sawyer. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Spain and Sarah ?. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Edward, James Robert, Sarah Elizabeth, Mary Francis and Lucinda. He was the second youngest of the six children. He died about 1934 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.1 General Notes
