FOR MRS. PHILLIPS. Martha Jane Phillips, 81, dies of pneumonia in
Paducah. Martha Jane Phillips, 81 years of age, died Friday morning at 5
o'clock in Pa ducah. her death resulted from pneumonia contracted two
weeks before her dea th, but she had been in ill health for over five
months. The deceased was bo rn in North Carolina August 14, 1854. Forty
years ago, she moved to Texas. For the past nine years, she has resided
in Cottle, moving here from Roxton, Texas. Her husband preceded her in
death October 1, 1914. The body was take n overland by the Norris Funeral
Home to Roxton where funeral services were c onducted Saturday afternoon
from the First Methodist Church. The Methodist a nd Baptist pastors of
Roxton had charge of the last rites. "On Jordon's Stor my Banks" and
"Jesus Lover of My Soul", favorite hymns of the deceased, were sug at the
funeral. Former friends and neighbors of Roxton were pallbearers and had
charge of the flowers. Interment was made in the Roxton cemetery.
Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs A.H. Hendrix and Mrs. R.R. Gaggers,
both of Paducah; four sons, A.N. Phillips of Dallas; L.J. Phillips of
Fort Worth ; J.A. Phillips of Paris and C.C. Phillips of Roxton. Paducah
friends and re latives attended the services.

Former resident of Roxton Dies at Home of Daughter. Mrs C.C. Phillips,
79 years old, long-time resident of Roxton, died Friday morning at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Arch Hendricks, in Paducah, Texas. The
funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First
Meth odist church at Roxton. Mrs. Phillips was born in Holly Springs,
Miss, on Au gust 14, 1856 and moved to Roxton with her husband about 40
years ago, making her home there until several years ago when she went to
live wither her daug hter in Paducah. At her bedside when she died were
her sons, JA Phillips of Paris, Almo Phillips of Dallas, and Leonard
Phillips of Fort Worth and her tw o daughters, Mrs Arch Hendricks and Mrs
RR Jaggers of Paducah. She is surviv ed by one other son, Lum Phillips of
Roxton, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren in Lamar County.
