Nova was born on July 18th, 1902. Nova's father was Lucius Leander Garrett and her mother was Nancy Caroline Brown. Her paternal grandparents were John Garrett and Mary Elizabeth (Polly) Osborn. She had six brothers and five sisters, named William Arthur, Newton Oscar, John Roscoe, Wilburn Logan, Roy Stanley, Henry Obert, Cory, Myrtle, Minnie Luevy, Mamie and Loney.General Notes
