Robert was born in 1797.1   Robert's father was Samuel Buchanan and his mother was Margaret Keys.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Buchanan and Mary ?. He had two brothers and a sister, named John Keys, Thomas and Celia.  He was the second youngest of the four children.
