Ellen was born on March 18th, 1850. Ellen's father was Major Garland Goode and her mother was Frances Burns. Her paternal grandparents were Philip Goode and Caroline Williams. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Giles, Burton, Barnwell Rhett, Mackerness, Philip, Kate Matthis, Mary B., Hattie, Bettie and Mary. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Son of Garland, Dau of Garland, Dau of Garland and Dau of Garland.General Notes
