Edward was born in October 1856 in Bedford Co., Va.  Edward's father was Colonel Edmund Goode and his mother was Ann M. McGhee.  His paternal grandparents were John Goode and Ann M. Leftwich. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Lynch, Thomas, Elizabeth, Roberta, Mary, Susan and Edmonia.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 23 in 1879 in Bedford Co., Va.
