Helen was born in June 1894 in Indiana. Helen's father was Milton Benton Hottel and her mother was Cora Helen Harris. Her paternal grandparents were Levi Pitman Hottel and Anett Horner. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Lee H., Russell, Lucille and Kathleen. She was the second oldest of the five children.General Notes
