Sarah E. was born on April 13th, 1833 in Harrison County, Indiana. Sarah E.'s father was Mathew Hancock and her mother was Elizabeth Hooker. Her paternal grandparents were John Hancock and Jane Skeen; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Hooker and Ann Frizzelle. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin Hooker, Jonathon Frizzele, William, Rebecca Ann, Mary Jane, Amelia Dawson and Chloe Francis. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 77 on July 10th, 1910 in Harrison County, Indiana.General Notes

Cousin Sarah-
I saw a few days ago a notice of the death of B. Hooker Hancock who I suppose was your brother and as I haven't heard anything from the family in a number of years I would be glad if you would answer this and tell me how many of your brothers & sisters are still living etc
I am now in this town where I have always lived since I came to Kentucky. I will send this notice to my sister Mary who lives in Wilson Co. Tenn. so that she may know of Cousin Hooker's death. If I hear from this I will write more in regard to our family.

The letter writer is Benjamin Phylandia Hooker, a physician at Russellville, Kentucky, son of Johnathan Frizelle Hooker and Margaret Gwynn. B.P.'s father (Johnathan Frizelle Hooker) and Sarah E. Hancock's mother (Elizabeth Hooker Mills Hancock) are siblings. B.P. and Sarah E. are first cousins, their grandparents being Benjamin Hooker, 1764-1834, and Anne Frizelle, 1769-1862.
