Matilda (Maud) was born in 1031 in Flanders, Normandy, France.1   Matilda (Maud)'s father was Baudouin V the Pious Ct de Flanders and her mother was Adela (Alix) Capet de France Cts de Contenance.  Her paternal grandparents were Baudouin IV "Fair Beard" Ct de Flanders and Ogive de Luxemburg; her maternal grandparents were Robert II Capet the Pious King of France and Constance de Arles. She had two brothers named Baudouin VI the Peaceable and Robert I 'le Frison'. She had two half-sisters named Alix and Elena.  She died at the age of 52 on November 2nd, 1083 in Caen, Calvados, France.  She was buried in Caen, Normandy.2
