Her paternal grandparents were Herbert I de Vermandois Ct de Vermandois and Bertha de Morvois; her maternal grandparents were Robert I King of France and Beatrice de Vermandois. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Robert de Vermandois, Adelbert I the Pious, Albert I, Sprota (Adela) and Luitgarda. She was the oldest of the six children.
