Ermengarde was born in 1005 in of Flanders, Belgium.1 Ermengarde's father was Baudouin IV "Fair Beard" Ct de Flanders and her mother was Ogive de Luxemburg. Her paternal grandparents were Arnolph II Ct de Flanders and Rozela (Susanna) de Italia; her maternal grandparents were Friederich de Luxemburg Ct de Luxemburg and Ermentrude von Gleiburg. She had a brother named Baudouin V the Pious. She was the older of the two children. She had a half-sister named Judith (Fausta).-
