Josiah Strong 
Josiah was born on June 17th, 1758 in Sharon, Litchfield, CT. Josiah's father was Josiah Strong and his mother was Eleanor White. His paternal grandparents were Josiah Strong and Elizabeth Fowler; his maternal grandparents were George White and Sarah Bumpas. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Joel, Solomon, Oliver Fowler, Sarah, Elizabeth, Hannah and Lydia. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 83 on November 14th, 1841 in Rose Hill, Onandaga, NY.General Notes
Joined the army at 17 in 1776, taken prisoner in Canada. He was released during Gen. Arnold's retreat from the blockade of Quebec. In the battle of White Plains, Oct. 28, 1776, he was with the troops that crossed the Delaware on Dec. 8 and he recrossed it on the 25, in the terrible snow and sleet storm to make the successful suprise attack on Trenton, NJ. He was in the battles of Princeton, Brandywine and Germantown, PA, where he was wounded and had a leg amputated. He was a farmer in Burtonville, Montgomery, NY until 1838 and Geneva, NY 1839- 1841.
