Her paternal grandparents were John William Province and Sarah Yard; her maternal grandparents were David Casto and Phoebe Gandy. She had ten brothers and six sisters, named John William, Benjamin E, David, Joseph, Samuel, Thomas, Jesse, Simeon, Uriah, Elisha, Sarah, Elizabeth, Lydia, Patience, Jane and Phoebe. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named B Franklin, Thearon, Joseph M, Selina, Uanna, Rachel and Agnes.-
