Joseph Mahaffey 
Joseph was born in 1788 in , Buncombe, NC. Joseph's father was Joseph Mahaffey and his mother was Elizabeth Cathey. His maternal grandparents were William Cathey and Rebecca Holeman. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Hugh, Andrew Deaver, John Thomas, William, David, Clarissa Ann, Rebecca Jane, Mary, Ann and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 52 in 1840 in NC. He was buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesville, NC.-
