ANTIOCH CEMETERY
This is a large and relatively old cemetery near Lexington overlooking Beech Lake which is accessible from State Highway 104. The cemetery is relatively well maintained. The cemetery is full within its original bounds but is being expanded to the south. The older part on the cemetery contains dozens of unmarked and fieldstone marked graves. Several markers are too old and eroded to read. This record was made December 26-27, 1993.
Mrs. Ella Franklin and Mrs. Ollie Faye Pirtle Rhodes recorded this cemetery circa 1974. Their record appears in R. H. Harris, ed., Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (Memphis, 1976), Vol. II, pp. 468-486. This earlier work is referred to as "Harris" in the notes below.
