Brigham was born on October 21st, 1850 in Council Bluffs, IA.1 Brigham's father was Matthew Galland Casto and his mother was Elizabeth Daniels. His paternal grandparents were Abel Casto and Mary Polly Galland. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Matthew W, George Ezra, Abel Nephi, Elizabeth Mary, Sarah Jane and Emily. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Joseph E.-
