Bertha was born after 1870. Bertha's father was William James Beggs and her mother was Kate Krieger. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Beggs and Janet (Jennie) Magee. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Robert, Benjamin James, William Samuel and Elizabeth.-
